Lead Surgical Excellence at a Growing Community Hospital

This highly visible leadership role provides 24/7 operational and clinical oversight for:
✅ Operating Room (OR)
✅ PACU
✅ Endoscopy
✅ Pre-Admission Testing
✅ Central Sterile Processing (CSP)
✅ Surgical Scheduling
✅ Inventory & Resource Management
Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director partners closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing leaders, and executive leadership to drive quality, growth, efficiency, and exceptional patient outcomes.
What You'll Do
Lead & Inspire Teams
- Provide leadership for Nurse Managers (OR, PACU, Endoscopy)
- Direct the Surgical Services Educator
- Oversee Central Sterile Processing leadership
- Lead centralized surgical schedulers
- Supervise inventory and clinical resource management
Drive Operational Excellence
- Manage productivity, budgeting, contracts, and equipment acquisition
- Oversee inventory control and position management
- Lead process improvement and strategic planning initiatives
- Utilize data analytics and reporting to optimize performance
Optimize Surgical Operations
- Partner with surgeons and schedulers to maximize block utilization
- Oversee OR and Endoscopy scheduling practices
- Ensure efficient patient throughput and volume growth
- Present scheduling updates through Surgical Services governance committees
Ensure Regulatory & Clinical Excellence
- Maintain compliance with:
- AORN
- ASPAN
- SGNA
- AAMI
- The Joint Commission (TJC)
- CMS requirements
- Promote safe, evidence-based perioperative and endoscopy practice
Manage Business & Financial Performance
- Lead budgeting and fiscal planning
- Review purchasing contracts and value analysis opportunities
- Collaborate with surgeons on product evaluations through Lumere
- Monitor billing processes and conduct audits to ensure accuracy
Support Workforce Engagement
- Mentor and develop eight direct reports
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and excellence
- Support ongoing education and staff development
Required Qualifications
Education
✔ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
✔ Master's Degree in Nursing or related field required
Experience
✔ Minimum 5 years of experience as a Nurse Manager in Surgical Services
✔ Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience within Surgical Services
✔ Operating Room nursing experience preferred
Licensure
✔ Current Massachusetts RN License
Knowledge & Skills
✔ Strong knowledge of federal and Massachusetts healthcare regulations
✔ Expertise in perioperative services operations and care delivery
✔ Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and financial management skills
✔ Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage complex operations
✔ Flexible scheduling to support a 24/7 surgical environment

Pay Range:
$155,002.00 USD – $210,995.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
