Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Trains under the supervision of Pharmacy Director & Managers
- Is not responsible for “opening or closing” the pharmacy; does not work alone, works with a Clinical Staff Pharmacist who is registered.
- Prepares and dispenses medication orders for patients.
- Reviews patient profile for allergies and adverse reactions.
- Reviews comprehensive drug data file to evaluate orders for drug-drug interactions, accuracy in drug selection, dose and frequency.
- Discusses questionable medication orders with providers.
- Ensures correct compounding and mixing of special formulas, chemotherapy and sterile IV products.
- Provides drug information to patients, nurses, physicians, trainees and other employees.
- Ensures all legal and professional requirements are adhered to for narcotics and other controlled substances.
- Supervises mentors and assists in training pharmacy technicians and interns.
- Ability to work with other pharmacists while providing excellent pharmaceutical care.
- Ability to triage & prioritize tasks to provide timely delivery of medications while supervising technicians.
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers, providers & ancillary staff.

Education/Experience Required:
- Two (2) years of experience in a hospital with unit dose, IV additive, chemotherapy and computerization preferred.
- B.S. Degree/Pharm D in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Registration/Certification:
- Must have Verification of Graduation from a college/school of Pharmacy accredited by the ACPE
- Must be eligible to obtain dates to take NAPLEX & law exams in Massachusetts by the Board of Pharmacy; Must pass the boards within 2 testing attempts.
Pay Range:
$44.02 – $72.45
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
