Position Summary: The Injury Prevention Coordinator (IVPC) for the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Trauma Program coordinates injury prevention, community and professional outreach education, and program development activities. The IPC is responsible for the hands-on, day-to-day management and support of all prevention activities, strategic planning. The IVPC serves as the communicator and resource link to the Trauma Service which can involve but is not limited to involve public contact and includes acting as a liaison with local public health staff, other professionals, and community- based organizations. The IVPC represents the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Trauma Program and is delegated broad responsibility for program implementation and works with considerable independence. This position reports to the Trauma Service Nurse Director and the Trauma Medical Director. The IVPC is accountable for the organization and structure of the Trauma Prevention Program for Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. Under the direct supervision of the Trauma Service Nurse Director and with input from the Trauma Medical Director, the Injury Prevention Coordinator will develop a strategy and organize the planning and implementation of prevention programs that will address the needs of our community. This role is an essential position in the trauma program encompassing development and identification of established prevention strategies, organizing the projects, working with existing clinical resources to assist with program application, and developing an evaluation process for each project.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Must have Massachusetts Registered Nurse License

• The Injury & Violence Prevention Coordinator will model all injury prevention activity in accordance with the Trauma Center Injury Prevention Standards and Indicators.

• Maintains current knowledge of “Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient 2022 Standards”

• Reports monthly to the Trauma Committee Members all upcoming Injury Prevention and Community Outreach events as well as initiative in progress.

• Coordinate and collaborate with local public health agencies, private organizations, the media and the general public to raise awareness about the predictability and preventability of injuries.

• Advance the knowledge of injury prevention through publications and presentations.

• Develop and implement multi-faceted injury prevention activities targeted for at-risk populations the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center catchment area

• Disseminate injury prevention materials through local and statewide networks to enhance public education and awareness about injury prevention.

• Planning and implementation of the annual Spring Injury Prevention Conference

• Identifies prevention needs based on the community and high risk injury patterns observed in the trauma registry

• Promotes an environment that is sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of the community

• Collaborates with members of the Lahey community to optimize prevention opportunities

• Collaborates with community leaders and established injury prevention programs to optimize opportunities including but not limited to:

• Establishes role on hospital wide prevention and safety committee Organizes clinical staff to assist with execution of programs Executes at least three prevention programs annually.

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts Registered Nurse License. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Must possess the skills to identify and implement opportunities for injury prevention initiatives within the trauma patient population.

• Strong data analytic skills.

• Ability to work with medical staff and members of the community to promote health and wellness as it relates to the injured patient population. • Accuracy and thoroughness; ability to work independently

• Must have demonstrated clinical competence in nursing practice. • Demonstrated leadership qualities.

• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, EMS and administrative colleagues.

• Excellent written and verbal Communication skill.

• Excellent computer skill required: Excel, PPT, and Word

 

 

Pay Range:

$38.11 – $98.23

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
