The Manager, Organizational Effectiveness & Change Management reports to the AVP, Organizational Effectiveness & Change Management and manages the design and delivery of initiatives that help Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) implement priorities, strengthen organizational health, and sustain change. The Manager partners with leaders and teams to translate business needs into practical organization-development and change solutions.
This manager-level individual contributor leads assigned projects from diagnosis and planning through stakeholder engagement, implementation, adoption, and measurement. The role collaborates across Talent Development, HR, Strategy, Operations, Communications, clinical and entity teams, and external partners.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage organizational-effectiveness and change initiatives aligned with BILH priorities, culture, workforce needs, and WE CARE values.
- Partner with leaders, managers, and HR colleagues to understand organizational, cultural, team, and change needs and recommend practical solutions.
- Develop change plans for transformations, integrations, operating-model changes, technology implementations, culture initiatives, and other assigned priorities.
- Assess stakeholder impact, readiness, capacity, dependencies, and risk; identify actions that support effective implementation and adoption.
- Conduct organizational diagnostics using data, interviews, focus groups, observation, and stakeholder analysis to identify barriers and opportunities.
- Support organization design and operating-model work, including roles, decision rights, governance, accountabilities, workflows, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Design and facilitate team-effectiveness, leadership-alignment, culture, and organizational-health sessions that improve clarity, trust, accountability, and performance.
- Engage stakeholders and establish feedback channels that surface concerns, inform decisions, and strengthen implementation.
- Prepare leaders and managers to lead change by developing talking points, discussion guides, toolkits, learning resources, and reinforcement plans.
- Manage project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, resources, decision tracking, stakeholder alignment, and status updates for assigned initiatives.
- Track readiness, adoption, behavior change, employee experience, operational performance, and sustainability measures; use results to improve the approach.
- Contribute to practical organizational-effectiveness and change methods, standards, templates, playbooks, and communities of practice.
- Coordinate consultants, vendors, and project resources as assigned and help transfer knowledge and capability to BILH teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Education, Change Management, or a related field required; equivalent education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
None required.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in organizational effectiveness, organization development, change management, transformation, talent development, project management, or related consulting work. Demonstrated experience managing complex initiatives and working with leaders in a large, matrixed organization.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Demonstrated capability in organizational diagnostics, team effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, change-impact assessment, readiness, adoption, and reinforcement.
- Working knowledge of established change-management approaches and the ability to adapt tools to the situation.
- Strong project-management skills, including planning, risk and dependency management, measurement, and delivery across concurrent workstreams.
- Strong facilitation, consultation, communication, relationship-management, conflict-navigation, and influence skills.
- Ability to bring structure to ambiguity, use qualitative and quantitative insights, and translate plans into practical action.
- Commitment to inclusive, equitable, and human-centered change practices that incorporate employee and leader perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in a complex, multi-entity healthcare system, academic medical center, or similarly complex organization.
- Experience supporting integrations, partnerships, enterprise technology implementations, or operating-model changes.
- Master's degree in a related discipline.
- Change-management certification, such as Prosci, or equivalent applied experience.
- Formal training or certification in organization design, team effectiveness, facilitation, coaching, assessment, or project management.
Dept/Unit Specific Skills:
Ability to work effectively across clinical, operational, and corporate settings and with teams that have different priorities, cultures, and operating realities.
Physical Requirements & Environment:
Greater Boston-based hybrid role requiring onsite presence (two days a week) and travel among BILH locations as initiatives demand, generally up to 15-25%. Occasional extended or off-hours availability may be needed during significant implementation, integration, or transformation milestones. Work is primarily performed in office and meeting environments using standard office technology. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with applicable requirements.
Pay Range:
$120,000.00 USD – $135,000.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
