Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Admission/Transfer/Discharge Functions. Ready patients’ room, greet and escort patient to their room, inventory possessions, assist with packing personal possessions.
  • Food Service Functions. Prepare patients for meals, serve food trays and snacks, assist with feeding as needed, record food/fluid intake, keep water pitchers filled, assist with after meal care.
  • Personnel Functions. Perform all tasks in accordance with policies/procedures, report all complaints/grievances made by the patient.
  • Personal Nursing Care Functions. Assist/provide patients with activities of daily living such as oral hygiene, bath functions, dressing/undressing, bowel/bladder functions, transporting, obtaining blood sugar levels, and vital signs in a manner that promotes and maintains patient’s dignity.
  • Provide all functions as delegated by Registered Nursing Staff.
  • Ensure patient room is ready for expected admission, i.e., name tags, admission kit, etc.
  • Conduct purposeful Rounding using the TLC model.
  • Respond to call bells in a timely manner
  • Alert nursing staff to abnormal findings during the execution of patient care duties
  • Stocking patient care areas with supplies needed for patient care
  • Updating white board with appropriate information regarding personnel and daily activities
  • Help to maintain a safe patient environment free of tripping hazards
  • Provide constant observation as a safety sitter to patients once trained
  • Comply will all mandatory education as assigned
  • Accurately document all relevant patient care activities in the Electronic Medical Record

Education/Registration/Certification Required

  • High School graduate or equivalency or current enrollment in a co-op program required
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required within 2 weeks of hire
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral directions in English at the 12th grade level.
  • Excellent organizational skills and work pace consistent with working in a busy, acute care unit
  • Must be 18 years old

Upon completion of the Nursing Assistant Registered Apprenticeship Program, the incumbent will transfer into CNA, Grade 8 position

The Nursing Assistant Registered Apprenticeship Program:
•    Includes classroom curriculum with an accredited Nursing Assistant Program
•    Includes on-the-job training
•    Must successfully complete Program within 6 months of hire into Trainee position

Physical/Environmental Requirements
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

 

 

Pay Range:

$17.69 – $29.77

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.  The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
