The OR Equipment Technician is responsible for ensuring the availability, readiness, and proper handling of surgical equipment in the operating room. This role supports efficient case turnovers by assisting with equipment setup, transport, and storage. Provides a vital role in improving workflow by ensuring coordination of equipment and supplies for day to day use.
Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Familiarize with and learn the function, setup, and safe handling of OR equipment assigned to Main OR.
- Ensure equipment is properly cared for, maintained, and returned in good working condition.
- Assist with pushing, transporting, and positioning equipment in the operating room to support faster room turnovers.
- Support timely equipment turnaround between cases to reduce delays.
- Return equipment promptly to the designated storage barn after each case.
- Monitor equipment for damage, malfunction, or missing components and report concerns to the clinical lead.
- Collaborate with OR attendants, scrub techs, and nursing staff to anticipate equipment needs.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient OR environment..
- Respond to room concerns related to equipment and supplies and escalate critical needs in a timely manner to leadership.
- Supports smooth and efficient clinical flow operations, while contributing to BIDMC’s promise of providing extraordinary care.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Detail orientated and able to multitasks many things.
- Prior experience in an operating room or hospital setting preferred, but not required.
- Ability to learn equipment functions and workflows quickly.
- Physical ability to safely push, move, and position OR equipment.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
- Reliability, accountability, and commitment to patient and staff safety.
Pay Range:
$21.00 – $28.26
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
