Phlebotomist – Lead (Weekend Night 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM, includes holiday rotation) 20 Hours Part Time

Perform venipuncture, finger sticks, and bleeding times on all patients at BIDMC. Obtain positive patient identification and maintains vein preservation and specimen labeling procedures. Transports routine and STAT specimens to appropriate laboratories. Provides training and orders and maintains supplies. Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with internal and external clients.

Job Description:

Maintains adequate staffing levels and efficient, effective workflow and scheduling. Provides training to phlebotomists to ensure competency. Provides data input for the payroll system in the absence of Supervisor and Phlebotomy Leaders. Acts as a technical resource for all difficult Phlebotomy blood draws for the institution. Ensures rounds are completed as scheduled and provides assistance, as needed, to maintain timelines of routine and STAT blood draws. Communicates lab issues and problems to Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Manager and recommends resolution. On a daily basis, interacts and communicates with customers including patients, site office manager, physicians, and medical assistants. Shares on-call duties. Provides input for performance appraisals. Ensures 24/7 coverage for Inpatient Rounds.

 

 

Pay Range:

$24.26 – $32.64

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
