Reporting to the Director of Network Business Development, the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) Physician Outreach Liaison is responsible for cultivating and maintaining new and existing referring physician relationships with providers and physician groups. This role is responsible for providing a high level of customer service by presenting information on system and hospital services and facilities while identifying obstacles to business growth. The individual will assist the Physician Outreach team in onboarding new providers by implementing successful business development strategies to support and grow practices across the network. Collaboration with stakeholders is essential to ensure growth priorities are in line with the vision and strategic goals of the system and hospital(s). The position has a role in developing BILH as a high-value, integrated health system fully compliant with established governmental regulations and private payor standards.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1. In support of the organization’s care retention and growth goals, serve as a liaison for referral sources; develop mutually beneficial relationships through face-to-face and virtual visits with physicians, referral coordinators, practice managers and medical staff from referring physician offices and facilities.  The liaison will ensure understanding of hospital and system services and work to identify and minimize referral obstacles.

2. Demonstrate excellent follow up skills to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen relationships with referral sources.

3. Frequent issue resolution for referring providers in the assigned territory is required. Liaison will work collaboratively with service line directors, department chairs, site managers and leadership team to resolve issues and improve service line utilization. Must have the ability to recognize acute problems (i.e. need for urgent outpatient referral) and know how to coordinate effectively in a large organization in order to receive a timely solution.

4. Maintain existing and cultivate new relationships with community providers and other entities that are mutually beneficial for the referral source, staff and organization.

5. Use active listening skills to understand the current perception of our services, while identifying physician needs and concerns.

6. Support and organize Physician Outreach and Network Development events and special projects as needed.

7. Review and evaluate current physician referral patterns utilizing existing reporting tools and market intelligence to assess opportunities for strategic growth within the network. Participate in regular meetings with Physician Outreach team to review data and discuss current and future care retention and growth strategies.

8. Participate in meetings and collaborate with internal Marketing and Strategic Planning departments.

9. Efficiently track and document each outreach activity in team CRM to support accurate measurement and reporting.

10. Communicate in a manner that supports the organization’s vision, mission and values.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required.

Three to five years experience in healthcare sales, business development or similar capacity required.

Superb communication, listening, relationship-building and follow through skills are necessary; Ability to understand the diverse, but interrelated activities of organizations; Ability to function effectively with a wide variety of hospital disciplines, including physicians and management; A self-starter known for integrity and creativity.

Pay Range:

$50,731.00 USD – $99,050.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
