Job Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience Required: At least two (2) years of plumbing/pipefitting trade work
Other Skills/Knowledge Required:
- For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team.
- Ability to read blueprints involving framing, electrical, HVAC and plumbing.
- Able to perform work with minimal supervision and/or direction.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- Massachusetts Journeyman plumber’s license
- Valid driver’s license
JOB FUNCTIONS
As part of the Engineering team, this position:
- Determines materials and supplies needed for projects/work, requests supplies and maintains adequate levels of stock to eliminate lag time in projects.
- Views the user group as the customer and collaborates with them to address their needs. Does all possible to minimize the disruption associated with the required work.
- When appropriate, pulls plumbing related permits and calls for inspections. Addresses any questions or issues identified by the various inspection agencies.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and pipefitting diagrams to ascertain layout, location and specifications of work to be performed.
- Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing and pipefitting-related fixtures and systems, including water, steam, air and gas systems, completing tasks in a self directed manner.
- When it is determined to utilize outside vendors/contractors, provides assistance and direction to help the project stay on schedule and within plan and required specifications for all plumbing related systems.
- Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor.
- Maintains tools and equipment in an orderly and safe manner to ensure easy access and extended product life.
- Performs all required documentation accurately, legibly and timely.
- Assists with snow removal and other projects as requested by supervisor.
- Maintains basic understanding of the operations and maintenance of air handlers, chiller systems and related equipment.
- Maintains working knowledge of the fire alarm system. In cases of emergency, can read the system to determine the location of alarm.
- Maintains a basic understanding of electrical system operations.
Pay Range:
$38.35 – $51.61
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
