Registered Respiratory Therapist
Job Description:
This position reports directly to the Manager of Respiratory Therapy and receives day to day oversight from the Respiratory Supervisors. The Respiratory Therapist – Registered performs respiratory care related duties to all age groups and is responsible for direct patient care within their scope of services in accordance with state licensure and the Registration Board of Respiratory Care. Works under physician orders and follows departmental and organizational policies while utilizing critical thinking and best practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Provides direct patient care under physician orders and within licensure laws.
· Works collaboratively with providers.
· Reviews current orders and ensures treatments are completed as ordered.
· Administers medications via nebulizer, MDI, and other delivery methods.
· Assesses patients throughout treatment and intervention cycles.
· Completes and updates plans of care.
· Ensures ventilator parameters are set according to physician orders.
· Enters patient settings on flow sheets.
· Checks and documents alarm parameters.
· Completes documentation legibly.
· Performs spontaneous breathing trials.
· Calibrates and administers inhaled nitric oxide.
· Administers helium-oxygen therapy.
· Sets up BIPAP and non-invasive ventilation.
· Performs non-bronchial alveolar lavage procedures.
· Assists with procedures and ventilated patient transport.
· Responds to emergencies including codes and trauma calls.
· Performs CPR as needed.
· Participates in research and quality initiatives.
· Draws arterial blood gases.
· Performs bedside spirometry and related testing.
· Maintains equipment proficiency.
· Participates in committees.
· Manages workflow effectively.
· Maintains a patient-focused approach.

Minimum Qualifications
·Education
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
·Licensure & Certification
Massachusetts License.
Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred.
BLS & ACLS certification required.
Skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical skills.
Working knowledge of computer systems.
· Experience
Critical care respiratory therapy experience preferred.
Pay Range:
$40.78 – $60.59
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
