Job Description:

Unit Description:

The Clinical Decision Unit is designed to hold patients whose medical conditions require specific clinically defined hospital-based services that include short term treatments, assessments and reassessments through periodic monitoring by staff who evaluate whether the patient can be discharged from the hospital or require inpatient status/admission. Patient expected Length of stay is 8-48 hours, therefore the admission/transfer/discharge activity, (ADT),  of this unit is expected to be high and therefore fast paced. This clinical area features a pace similar to the Emergency Room with diagnostic work ups and care needs in a telemetry setting. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, educate and document the nursing care of patients set forth by organizational policies and in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. 
  • Utilizes specialized knowledge, judgement, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, as well as, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the patient to facilitate a safe discharge. 
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines in care of patients.
  • Participates in formal and informal educational programs to improve technical skills.
  • Responsible for continued learning and application to practice.
  • Responsible to provide patient and family education.

Registration/Certification:

  • Current MA RN License
  • AHA BLS certification required.

Education/Experience Required:

  • 12 months of recent Acute Care RN experience preferred.
  • Current telemetry experience preferred.
  • Evidence of continuing education.
  • Utilizes appropriate time management skills and communicates effectively.
  • Documented Professional Development activities
  • Knowledge of Critical Paths
  • Charge Nurse experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • AHA ACLS certification preferred

 

 

Pay Range:

$36.41 – $74.59

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.  The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
