At Beverly & Addison Gilbert Hospitals, we are invested in your career. Through the Patient Care Technician In-House Training program, you will attend 4 weeks of paid education to prepare you to work as a Patient Care Technician on an inpatient Medical Surgical unit at our hospitals.

The program will take place under the direct ion of a Clinical Nurse Educator, and you will have the opportunity to build a new skill set and assume a direct patient care support role at the hospital.

Requirements:
Patient Care Technicians must be able to commit to working a minimum of 24 hours, up to 40 hours per week, once they start working on their assigned units. Training will consist of 24 hour weeks for 4 weeks at Beverly Hospital.

- High School Diploma OR GED required.

- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and fellow members of the hospital team for safety and quality reasons.

- Must be able to work every other weekend and alternating holidays.
Competitive hourly rate with no patient care experience. Applicants with direct patient care experience will receive a pay rate based on experience with shift differentials included.

Job Description:

Patient Care Technicians provide basic care activities and provide personal needs, comfort and safety of your patient. The Patient Care Technician assists with the delivery of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The primary responsibility will be focus on performing technical, therapeutic, administrative tasks and procedures for which they have been trained. The Patient Care Technician must demonstrate the ability and willingness to participate in a patient care team as a multi-skilled caregiver responsible for quality of own work and remain flexible in response to change.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Vital Signs
  • Height and Weight
  • Oxygen Saturation
  • Reporting all unusual observations to the nurse
  • Collecting various specimens for analysis
  • Recording and measuring intake and output
  • Providing patient with personal care and assisting with daily activities
  • Performing basic clinical procedures independently or under the supervision of the RN
  • Provide nutritional needs including assisting and ordering room service, setting up meal trays and feeding.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read/write and perform basic 4 function math
  • Desire to help people and/or have aspirations of becoming a healthcare professional
  • Basic computer skills (preferred)
  • Medical terminology (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
