The per diem Ambulatory Services Trainer will facilitate and run Ambulatory classes, to include Ambulatory Orientation, customer services classes and Joint Commission preparedness training.The role will be located onsite at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.
Job Description:
The Ambulatory Services Trainer is responsible for designing and facilitating Ambulatory training and orientation classes.
Essential Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Under the direction of the Ambulatory Services Program Manager, designs and facilitates trainings and orientations, both virtually and in person, with a particular focus on patient experience and communication skills.
- Provides written training outlines/proposals as well as summaries for training curriculum database.
- Provides regular and formal feedback to the Ambulatory Services Program Manager regarding training design and makes recommendations for curriculum updates to keep trainings fresh and relevant.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Organizational Behavior preferred.
- 8-10 years related work experience required.
- Confidence as a trainer in large and small group settings. Presentation and facilitation ability to build rapport with small and large audiences alike. Experience designing and delivering experiential training programs.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Must be self-directed and demonstrate ability to manage workload and competing priorities. Ability to be flexible, versatile and adaptable.
- Must be an effective communicator with impeccable written and verbal skills.
- Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of healthcare operations in the Ambulatory setting a plus.
Competencies:
- Decision Making: Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.
- Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are highly varied, complex and often non-recurring, requiring staff input, innovative, creative, and Lean diagnostic techniques to resolve issues.
- Independence of Action: Ability to set goals and determines how to accomplish defined results with some guidelines. Manager/Director provides broad guidance and overall direction.
- Written Communications: Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers.
- Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
- Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations.
- Teamwork: Ability to lead and direct multiple collaborative teams for large projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have significant implications for the management and operations of the organization.
- Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
Social/Environmental Requirements:
- Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the workday do not compromise the work.
- Work requires constant response to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.
- No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions
- Health Care Status: NHCW: No patient contact. - Health Care Worker Status may vary by department
Sensory Requirements:
Monitor Use, Visual clarity <3 feet, Conversation.
Physical Requirements:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move throughout the hospital campus. This job requires constant endurance - working up to 2 hours without a break, frequent standing. There may be occasional sitting, walking.
