The Groundskeeper II performs general grounds maintenance and landscaping duties across the medical center campus, with added responsibility for operating heavy equipment such as Bobcats, skid steers, or other machinery that requires a Massachusetts hoisting license. This role supports seasonal operations, including snow removal and landscape installations, and is responsible for safely executing work that requires specialized licensure.Monday-Friday
6:00 AM- 2:30 PM
Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Performs routine grounds maintenance including lawn mowing, fertilizing, trimming, weeding, planting, and watering.
- Maintains sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and other hardscape areas by sweeping, clearing debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Operates power equipment such as leaf blowers, hedge trimmers and lawnmowers.
- Operates heavy equipment (e.g., Bobcat, skid steer, tractor, loader, or similar) for grounds maintenance and snow removal, in compliance with safety standards and state hoisting regulations.
- Applies sand, salt, and ice melt during winter operations using powered equipment.
- Completes work assignments independently and may assist in training Groundskeeper I staff on equipment and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year related work experience.
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Current Massachusetts Hoisting License required.
- Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping machinery and powered equipment.
- Basic computer skills to navigate work order systems and safety documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in institutional or commercial grounds maintenance settings.
- Knowledge of horticulture, irrigation systems, or landscape installation.
