Train, mentor and oversee medical assistants, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, NEBH policies and best practices. Assist providers with exams, procedures and treatment while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Coordinate patient flow, manage schedules and supplies. Facilitate efficient clinic operations. Ensure adherence with OSHA, HIPAA and other regulations. Obtain prior authorization for medication, imaging or procedures as needed. Monitor and maintain supplies, equipment and exam room readiness. Act as a liaison between medical assistants, providers and administrative staff to optimize workflow and patient experience. Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance patient care and efficiency.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Under the direction and supervision of the Physician and Office Manager, escorts patients to exam rooms and provides direct patient care
  • Oversees the daily clinical flow, schedules and functions, ensuring all site medical assistants provide quality medical treatment. When needed, train other medical assistants to improve performance and skill. Lead monthly staff meetings with medical assistant staff
  • Prepares patient exam rooms to ensure they are ready for patients and doctors. Keeps the exam rooms stocked with supplies needed to perform patient assessments. Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean.
  • Performs diagnostic testing which may include but is not limited to, urine collection, phlebotomy, EKG, etc., as ordered
  • Records vital signs and assists Physician with patient exams. Enters all data into electronic health record, complying with all PHO and Managed Care Quality requirements (required vitals, e-prescribing, etc).
  • Reports all pertinent observations to Physician, Office Manager, Director, or other health team member.
  • Assists Physician with surgical bookings, and coordinates additional testing/consultations as necessary
  • Follows up with patients on test results, rx refills, and assists with patient education.
  • Functions as a liaison between the patient and their family and the health care team.
  • Performs other related duties as required. Supports front desk duties as needed (phones, check in, co-pay collection, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • HeartSaver or BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (preferred) or American Red Cross
  • Medical Assistant Certification

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of work-related
