MRI TECHNICIAN LEAD

Supervises the clinical and technical daily operation of the MRI department so that the adult/geriatric patient care and diagnostic services
provided are consistent with patient goals and objectives. Responsible for maintaining all necessary regulatory logs pertaining to
operation of equipment and care of patients. Plans, directs, and performs MRI examinations. Assumes responsibility for technical activity in
the modality, training as required for career ladder, and orientation of new employees. Participates with the radiologist in charge in
establishing state of the art protocols and procedures.

Job Description:

MRI TECHNICIAN LEAD

1. Performs an assessment of each patient’s condition and ability to participate in the exam. Obtains and records clinical information pertinent to the performance of the examination and interpretation of the images recorded. Assures the confidentiality of all pertinent information. Assures the general safety and comfort of the patient with regards to ferromagnetic material, claustrophobia, or any other condition that would jeopardize the welfare of the patient.

2. Supervises and monitors the technical protocols for the imaging of patients in the modality. Chooses and loads the appropriate protocols for exams ordered. Selects appropriate imaging factors for each patient scan. Records appropriate information for use by the management information system. Provides the appropriate information for completion of the interpretations of all scans.

3. Supervises the quality controls on the hardware and software, maintains systems checks on the maintenance of the magnet and van. Initiates corrective action in cooperation with the department manager when necessary.

4. Obtains information on procedures, equipment, software updates and discusses with Radiologists and Operations Manager.

5. Ensures the delivery of service to the patients and physicians at the hospital in a professional, courteous and service oriented manner.

6. Oversees the scheduling of outpatient exams consistent with the expected time frame of the quality improvement plan. Oversees the scheduling of all personnel to maximize the time. Manages the delineation of technical duties. Participates in the instruction of new staff in the performance of the examinations, operation of the equipment as well as the overall operation of the section. Supervises inventory control and orders supplies as necessary. Prepares capital operational budget requests for submission to manager.

7. Participates in departmental meetings, Radiation Safety and Quality Improvement meetings

8. Has knowledge of and understands current Joint Commission standards for the clinical aspect of the department

9. Identifies cost savings and productivity improvement opportunities and recommend to Operations Manager

10. Complete all staff competencies and mandatory education as required, complete required onboarding and training of new staff

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology required.

• Licensed as a Radiologic Technologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. • ARRT-MRI Certification required.

• 1-3 years related work experience required
