Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Tertiary Team Leader, the Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and demonstrates Lahey Clinic’s core values that reflect its Mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care and accountability are central to the delivery of individualized high quality patient care.A Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety and age-appropriate considerations of patients.
The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of Massachusetts Rules & Regulations- 244 CMR 3.0, shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care he/she provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility are health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve.
The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care assumes the responsibility for the plan of care and has the authority to make decisions and is held accountable for decisions specific to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the plan. The registered nurse facilitates the coordination of care across the continuum and demonstrates safe practice within the domains of:
• Clinical judgment and decision making
6 West is a 27 unit with a clinical specialty in neurology. This population of patients includes acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, seizures, epilepsy monitoring and other acute neurological diseases. As a certified comprehensive stroke center, we work closely with the vascular neurology team, and our nurses are experts in acute stroke care. In addition, this unit sees a wide variety of acutely ill medical patients. Outside of our nine bed progressive care unit, our unit features 27 beds with continuous cardiac monitoring capability. Our team is committed to the delivery of safe, high quality care to our patients.
6 West offers a unique pathway for those nurses looking to build their resume and progress in their career. Our unit has a close relationship with the critical care team and we prepare our nurses for a seamless transition into our intensive care units should this be the path they choose.

Job Description:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a 2-4 year state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures. See Skill Record.
Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the clinic specific competencies.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BSN preferred and/or ASN Degree Requirements
At least 1 year of previous of Nursing experience in acute care or sub-acute setting required
Current Massachusetts registered Nurse License required.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required
Demonstrate critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
Lifting 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs
