The Program Coordinator helps in developing, optimizing, and maintaining access and outreach efforts.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1.    Provides expertise in the facilitation and delivery of care for the specified surgical specialty for patient care and staff members.
2.    Directs and coordinates implementation of patient care activities. 
3.    Serves as a resource to the divisional staff for management of patient care problems and planning care for patients within the specialty service. 
4.    Identifies needs and implements systems/processes to facilitate care and improve ease of administrative processes.
5.    Pro-actively and effectively collaborates with the Division Chair, Executive Director, Lead Physician's Assistant, Surgical Services ACNO, Clinic Nurse Manager, and scheduling coordinators to anticipate needs of future surgical procedures.
6.    Facilitate smooth execution of cardiac procedures by anticipating and troubleshooting potential problem areas. 
7.    Works collaboratively to facilitate case flow, expedite surgery, and promote patient safety.
8.    Helps develop staff expertise in functioning in a collaborative role within the cardiac surgery specialty. 
9.    Works with Clinic Nurse Manager to develop and implements ongoing staff improvement skills assessment and training to maintain competency for positive outcomes. 
10.    Interprets and monitors staff compliance of established clinical specialty standards and procedures.
11.    Assures the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of patient care to achieve cost effective outcomes.
12.    Develops and sustains an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and patient care; forecasts trends; functions as change agent; analyzes current status and improves existing systems.
13.    Operationalizes and implements strategic initiatives at direction of the Executive Director and/or Clinic Nurse Manager.
14.    Assist in the management of the clinic level quality/performance improvement efforts. 
15.    Schedules and coordinates inpatient and outpatient procedures.
16.    Schedules equipment and/or vendors based on procedure scheduled. 
17.    Maintains consistent communication with patients before and after surgical dates to answer any questions and provide excellent patient care.
18.    Tracks all pre-operative labs, along with medical, cardiac, and dental clearances prior to surgery date while meeting the required deadlines.
19.    Assists front office staff with new patient referrals, scheduling, and obtaining authorizations for office visits.
20.    Verifies all patients are scheduled for post op visits, home health and/or Physical Therapy as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications: Understands and utilizes the basic principles of nerve conduction studies including digital recording equipment, such that a study can be performed and presented for interpretation.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: NA

Experience:     5+ years relevant experience
