Anesthesia Technician

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

1. Performs diverse duties to ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of anesthesia equipment and monitors. Follows established safety procedures.

2. Maintains anesthesia equipment. Becomes familiar with all anesthesia monitoring equipment.

3. Maintains stock levels of anesthesia supplies and medications from the hospital supply system and outside sources for the main operating room and delivery room.

4. Maintains stock in each operating room and the anesthesiology work area in a neat and orderly condition. Troubleshoots equipment as necessary.

5. Assists the anesthesiologist as necessary during the procedure of inserting infusion lines.

6. Delivers and sets up special equipment needed for major surgical cases.

7. Performs other related duties as required or as directed, which may include cleaning duties in operating and delivery rooms. Arranges set up of equipment for the following day's procedures as needed.

8. Reports problems/outcomes to lead cardiovascular nurse.

9. Works under direction of the lead cardiovascular anesthesiology nurse.

Required Qualifications

1. Good verbal and written communication skills, normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent. Training as an anesthesia technician preferred.

2. One year of related healthcare experience, preferably with some familiarity with anesthesia equipment. 3. Good interpersonal skills.
