Position Summary:

Interacts with all levels of staff within the Obstetrics units/departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in various settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information.

Job Description:

In this role, the nurse may start their shift in one unit and then based on a change in census and acuity be transferred or re-assigned to a different unit to meet operational requirements. The nurse may also spend extended periods of time in one unit to support staffing needs (ie. illness, holidays, FMLAs).

Positions assigned to Level II Nursery provide patient care to Neonates and Infants. Positions assigned to Postpartum Unit provide patient care to Neonatal, Adolescent (age 13 to 18) and adult populations.


Qualifications: 

NRP required within 3 months of employment
BLS/CPR required (Note: BLS is waived for staff who have completed AHA HeartCode ACLS. BLS skills are validated as part of the HeartCode ACLS course)
Graduate of a state-approved and/or accredited RN program required. 
BSN requirement strongly encouraged. 
Work experience in unit specific specialty preferred. Basic computer knowledge.
