This position is Part-Time based on a schedule of 20-hours per week.

The Associate Chief Medical Information Officer (aCMIO) is a dual report role (solid to the BILH CHIO, dotted to the BILH Chief Clinical Officer) who is responsible for IT strategic planning, physician and clinical engagement, and change management related to information systems in the realms of ambulatory operations and population health. They will work in collaboration with the site-associated aCMIOs (community and academic), and will collaborate closely with the central clinical informatics team and broader BILH IT team, identifying opportunities for improvement in the EHR and other IT systems, providing clinical guidance on the design of such improvements, refining communication intended for end-users and engaging with operational leaders. They will work closely with the Chief Clinical Officer, BILH Medical Group leadership, BILH Behavioral Services leadership, and BILH Performance Network leadership. They will be recognized by end users and executives as both a knowledgeable contact and a leader, such that users can and will funnel concerns, issues, and asks regarding the EHR to them. While responsible specifically for the domains noted, they will also be cognizant of issues and considerations across the entire BILH system, and will promulgate the system-based approach for the EHR.

This role contributes to the execution of the enterprise-wide IT strategy and ensures its alignment with the enterprise's business strategy and the delivery of capabilities required to achieve clinical success. Furthermore, this position actively and enthusiastically promotes the value of efficiency and innovation as it pertains to enterprise applications, provider alignment, etc. as needed by leveraging all necessary resources including operational, analytical, etc. as appropriate. The role is expected to devote 0.5 FTE to these administrative responsibilities, with a 0.5 FTE ambulatory clinical appointment (relative time commitment may be adjusted in the future by mutual agreement).

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1.    Acts as an IT and EHR ambassador and champion with the responsibility of supporting clinical goals, EHR training and efficiency, IT process implementation into practice, and optimization, etc.
2.    Participates in the development of strategic EHR initiatives and related solutions that fit the organization’s needs. Provides strategic input, as requested, for the design, development, operation and support of clinical systems that fulfill the needs of the business.
3.    Leverages analytics, reports, dashboards, etc. to determine where operational efficiency opportunities exist within the clinical environment.  Helps drive workflow enhancements.
4.    Works in an integrated fashion with the BILH clinical informatics team for optimization of the system-wide EHR
5.    Serves as the primary liaison between executive leadership in their domains and BILH Information Systems, collaborating with all parties to assist with answering questions, discussing barriers and solutions, etc. as needed. 
6.    Reviews existing analytics and dashboards for clinical applications, noting potential areas of concern/improvement and conveying any findings to their operational leadership and the central clinical informatics team 
7.    Supports clinical application innovation efforts by providing clinical input into the design, where appropriate, as well as helping to identify impacts and potential risks on the operational side for proactive mitigation. Participates in the assessment of external and internal technology capabilities required to achieve desired clinical advancement.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • MD or DO

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

  • Licensed, practicing physician

Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ clinical experience
  • Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills.  Thorough knowledge of various EHRs and other clinical systems in healthcare settings.  “Power user” or builder Epic training strongly encouraged

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Highly respected within the field, trustworthy, approachable and ability to collaborate successfully with various levels of staff and professionals.  Aptitude to successfully drive change and manage resistance. 
  • Dept/Unit Specific Skills: 
  • Thorough knowledge of EHR and other clinical systems in healthcare settings.  Deep understanding of clinical workflows and operations
