Day Shift-Monday-Friday 9am-2pm

According to established policies and procedures, performs a wide variety of tasks relative to the retrieval, processing, distribution, tracking and filing of imaging studies and reports. Assists physicians, technologists and patients with the creation of imaging studies onto CDs/DVDs and/or electronic image sharing of imaging studies between BID-Milton and outside facilities. This position involves significant contact with patients, physicians and other allied health professionals.

Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares CDs/DVDs when requested.  Ensures appropriate patient identification labels are on disc and hands to patients upon request or mails when requested.
  • Retrieves and imports exams on electronic image sharing platforms (ex: Ambra, LifeIMAGE, Powershare) or on disc to process and upload into PACS for Radiologists and requesting providers according to established policies and procedures.
  • Requests and tracks imaging and reports from outside facilities to minimize delay in patient care.
  • Processes transfer of imaging studies to outside facilities via electronic imaging sharing platforms or CD/DVDs.  Forwards imaging reports to appropriate facilities, department or person, as needed.
  • Answers telephone, refers call, records and transmits messages.  Retrieves voicemails and communicates timely back to patients/caller.
  • Processes legal requests for imaging studies according to established policies and procedures.
  • Works in multiple systems to capture all information and prior exams for comparison such as EPIC, Sectra, Epic Care Everywhere, Ambra, Powershare Life image and others.
  • Works closely with Radiologists and Technologists to ensure they have the images needed to minimize delays.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of supplies for image archive operation and notifies supervisor when supplies need replenishment.
  • Report equipment malfunction immediately by notifying help desk and supervisor.
  • Performs related clerical duties and assists with front desk operations as needed.
  • Exhibits calm and professional manner at all times; recovers quickly from adverse situations; maintains confidentiality, seeking and sharing information on need-to-know basis only.
  • May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
1.    High School diploma or equivalent.
2.    Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.  
3.    Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management, computer and organizational skills required.

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED    
1.    Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
2.    Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
3.    Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
