Supports the mission of the department by ensuing that the right patients receive the right medication in a safe and timely manner under the direct supervision of an inpatient pharmacist and the Director of Pharmacy. In addition to assisting the pharmacist in preparation of medications this position will be responsible for managing the various technology and non-technology projects of the department. In particular this position will assist with the implementation of a point of care bedside verification system, including ensuring that all products dispensed from the Pharmacy have a bar code that is readable by the system used on the nursing units. This position will manage other projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.

Job Description:

Delivers medication to the patient care units in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and MA Board of pharmacy regulation. Accurately fills medications from the list provided by the automated dispensing machine. In conjunction with other Pharmacy colleagues ensures that all drug distribution functions are completed in a safe and timely manner. Informs pharmacist and/or other supervisors of any workflow issues. Delivers medications to the automated dispensing machines on the patient care units in an accurate and timely manner, including checking for errors such as expiration dates and wrong strengths. Repackages and compounds medications, as needed, in accordance with departmental procedures. Actively participates in continuous performance improvement activities of the department, including providing suggestions on how to improve day-to-day operations Trains other technician colleagues as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy
