The department offers comprehensive cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services to patients in the community.  The staff is comprised of a mixture of registered nurses, exercise physiologists and respiratory therapists.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides supervision and monitoring of exercise session patients during cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation including assessing vital signs and telemetry monitor.
  • Provides patient monitoring during class and interprets physiological response to exercise.
  • Provides competent compassionate patient care based on scientific principles 
  • Collaborates with other exercise physiologists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists and attending physicians when appropriate for creation and update of individualized plan of care
  • Prescribes exercise intensity and develops exercise plan at initial assessment
  • Prepares and adjusts individual exercise prescriptions in accordance with relevant testing and physician recommendations on a regular basis.
  • Performs exercises with patients, demonstrating correct body mechanics and proper use of equipment to prevent injury
  • Assists with orientation of new patients
  • Reviewing medical history and documenting daily assessment and session data in patients’ medical records

Scheduled Hours: 24 hr/wk

Work Shift: M - 8:30a - 5p, W - 8:30a - 5p and F - 7:15a - 3:45p. No holidays, no weekends.

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field.

Required Experience: strong cardiology background highly preferred. Prior experience in cardiac and pulmonary rehab, EKG monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, exercise prescription and exercise testing for clinical populations.

Required Licensure/Certification:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
