Are you ready to become a part of our dynamic Laboratory team?

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

• Demonstrates proficiency in determining specimen requirements blood collections for all age groups, order entry, order query, specimen accessioning, and specimen distributions.
• Utilizes two forms of patient identification.
• Accurately performs laboratory analyses on patient specimens.
• Verifies completed work only after careful review of order priority, completeness, absurd results, critical values and special requests.
• Ensures that results pass quality control criteria before verifying results.
• Brings forward quality concerns and issues in a timely manner following the proper chain of command.
• Skillfully performs required instrumentation maintenance so that analyzers will perform optimally over a longer period of time.
• Recognizes STAT testing priorities.
• Reviews results for critical values, delta variances, unusual or absurd results, and result completeness prior to certification and release of information.
• Maximally utilizes the features of the LIS system to enable productive and efficient use of time.
• A medical technologist-2 shall earn this designation through learning and practicing additional skills over and above the medical technologist job description. Examples include the laboratory information system maintenance and development, point-of-care coordination, supervision of a high-volume complex lab section, or outreach activities.
• In order to complete one of the above tasks, technologists must demonstrate superior time management skills and productivity.

Scheduled Hours: 37.5 hrs/wk

Work Shift: Days, every third weekend rotation and holidays.

Education Required: A bachelor’s degree is required in medical laboratory science or clinical laboratory science, or related biological science.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Required: Registered as a medical technologist (ASCP) or equivalent certification upon hire. New graduates must become certified within 12 months from date of hire.

Required Experience: Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
