Are you ready to become a part of our dynamic Adult Psychiatric Team?

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Identifies new admissions to the psychiatric adult unit and coordinates with LICSW to complete a psychosocial assessment within 72 hours.
  • In coordination with the LICSW, contributes to an individual plan of care and discharge plan based on the psych/social needs of the patient.
  • Effectively communicates with the interdisciplinary health care team discharge needs and obstacles affecting treatment and discharge disposition. Makes referrals to appropriate agencies and aftercare treaters based on patient needs.
  • Provides support and consultation to other members of the health care team around psychological, social and management issues of patients.
  • Expresses alternative points of view in a non- threatening, respectful and professional way. Acknowledges when it is appropriate to compromise and when it is important to take a stand.
  • Sensitive to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others. Approaches others in a non- threatening and pleasant manner, shows tact and diplomacy.
  • Conducts a weekly discharge planning group with patients to address barriers and challenges to a successful discharge.
  • In coordination with the LICSW, assists in insurance reviews for continued care as indicated by the treatment team.
  • In coordination with the patient, LICSW and nursing staff, facilitates communication with families and out-patient supports as indicated.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Scheduled Hours: 40 hr/wk

Work Shift: M - F : 8am - 430pm

Education: MSW or BA in related field with a minimum of 3500 hours of supervised work exp. in social work services.

Required Experience: Experience in crisis intervention desired.Clinical Social Worker experience, minimum of one year in a hospital setting preferred or related experience.

Required Licensures/Certifications: Commonwealth of Massachusetts LCSW or LSW required.
