Under general supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager, coordinates the work of the Endoscopy Technicians in the performance of general Endoscopy Department responsibilities. Also performs the everyday duties of an Endoscopy Technician.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1) Collaborates with the Endoscopy Assistant Nurse Manager to formulate the daily staffing assignments for the Endoscopy Technicians.

2) Coordinates and oversees the everyday duties of the Endoscopy Technicians. Assures that these duties are performed

timely and accurately and that staff members make the most efficient use of their time.

3) Trains new Endoscopy Technicians on department policies and procedures. Answers questions from staff and

responds to routine operational problems as they arise.

4) Collaborates with the Endoscopy Clinical Educator to assure that new Endoscopy Technicians receive appropriate

orientation and that existing colleagues receive annual competency assessments and adequate training on all new

technology and equipment.

5) Reports to Endoscopy Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Managers when staff performance or behavior problems

arise requiring corrective action or counseling.

6) Provides Endoscopy Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Managers with input into annual performance appraisals

for Endoscopy Technicians.

7) Performs the duties of an Endoscopy Technician as needed.

8) Coordinates the transport of patients to and from the Endoscopy Recovery room.

9) Coordinates the availability of specialty equipment in the procedure rooms.

10) Suggests improvement to department processes when necessary and participates in process improvement initiatives.

11) Communicates with Biomedical Engineering and Facilities and Maintenance departments to assure that there is daily

upkeep of the Endoscopy rooms and equipment.

12) Maintains inventory of Endoscopy supplies as needed for daily operations.

13) Communicates with Assistant Nurse Manager on all Endoscopy equipment maintenance problems.

14) Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles , Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.

15) Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.

16) Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

17) Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

18) Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.

19) Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to

Customer Service standards.

20) Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.

21) Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

22) Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalency

Licensure, Certification, Registration: None Required

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work independently, to perform effectively in a leadership role and to communicate effectively with all levels of the health care team.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience working in a patient care setting. Minimum 6 months experience performing lead, charge or supervisory duties.
