40 hpw; 8-hr shifts (3-11:30p weekdays shifts and 7a-3:30p or 8a-4:30p weekend & holiday shifts); rotating weekends and holidays

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is infection control.
  • Maintain sterile technique.
  • Performs all duties according to procedure.
  • Cleans, sterilizes, packages and assembles instrument sets.
  • Responsible for cleaning reusable items, including surgical pieces and processing through steam sterilizers, gas sterilizers, washer sterilizers, and ultrasonic if necessary.
  • Responsible for waste disposal and decontamination of contaminated items.
  • Inspects equipment and instruments through all procedural steps for condition and operation.
  • Collects solid instruments, kits, equipment, etc. for processing.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance and housekeeping duties on work stations as requires.
  • Assist in collection of data for Quality Assurance Programs, ongoing.
  • Growth potential for surgical case charts, sterilization containers, and CSR-computerized application.

Education/Experience Required:

  • HS Diploma

Registration/Certification:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Central Sterile Technician program with completion and certification required within 1 year from start of employment
