Duties/Responsibilities
Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic bone density exams on various parts of the body including setting up equipment and patient in relation to each other to provide best demonstration of body for the study and comparison to past studies. Enters instructions into computers, monitors and evaluates images for accuracy and completeness of order. Adjusts when judged to be necessary. Evaluates and interprets bone density scans for image quality, positioning, comparison and completeness. Assesses if additional scans need to be performed for proper diagnostics. Responds to patient's physical and psychological needs. Explains all procedures in a clear and concise manner without causing unnecessary anxiety. Uses proper hand hygiene before and after patient contact. Perform daily and weekly quality control on bone densitometer Performs associated administrative tasks to their clinical duties, including obtaining and reviewing radiology orders from referring providers Works closely with administrative leadership to maximize scheduling, the patient experience, and implement new processes as needed. Maintain an adequate stock of pertinent supplies. Perform all duties in an ethical and professional manner.

Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required
- Two years of radiologic technology experience in a hospital setting.
- Mammography experience preferred
Education Required
- Graduate of an AMA approved program in radiology for registration eligibility.
Registration/Certification
- Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License and Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible, must attain certification for Bone Density within one year of date of hire.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs. and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
