40hpw; Evening Shift- 3:00pm- 11:30pm; Rotates weekends and holiday

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities or Assistant Director, performs all plumbing repairs and installations in the hospital, including the procurement of necessary permits on new installations and renovations.
  • Performs all preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on plumbing systems.
  • Performs general maintenance duties.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules and regulations as set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures.
  • May be required to work off shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime.  Performs similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency, temporary or limited basis as assigned. Subject to on call.
  • Determine acceptable quality of materials and/or equipment.
  • Needs to have working knowledge of other trades; HVAC, boilers, plumbing, carpentry and maintenance mechanic.
  • Performs one or more trades to include plumbing, steam fitting, carpentry, major electrical and related maintenance of high- and low-pressure boiler systems.    
  • Respond and complete Grand PM work tickets as required/assigned
  • Acts as an Emergency Preparedness First Responder, as trained
  • Conducts Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) as scheduled or assigned
  • Conducts daily monitoring Rounds as required
  • Responds to calls for service in a timely manner
  • Intervenes on the patient’s behalf as appropriate
  • Documents all activities according to healthcare organizational policy
  • Interacts with Maintenance team on a regular basis
  • Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge in problem identification and solving activities
  • Identifies learning opportunities required to enhance care delivery

Education/Experience Required:

  • Equivalent to a graduate of a vocational or trade school.
  • At least five years of experience in trade as a licensed plumber.
  • Must be able to interpret blueprints.

Registration/Certification:

  • Must possess Massachusetts Journey persons Plumber License.

Able to obtain State “Special to Operate” boiler certification within 6 months of hire
