X-RAY TECH DOING MAMMOGRAPHIES

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Preparation for Exam: Reviews the request for the ordered procedure and determines the appropriate utilization of resources needed as determined by department protocols and consideration of patient=s needs.

  • Performance of Exam: Carries out all steps necessary to get patient prepared, perform procedure, complete all related functions and dispatch patient to the next appropriate modality/location.

  • Quality Assurance: Be knowledgeable in Quality Assurance duties not assigned to physician or medical physicist.  Be knowledgeable in performing weekly image quality evaluation with FDA approved phantom, and perform monthly, quarterly and semi-annual quality assurance testing.

  • Perform all record keeping/paperwork necessary for Exam/Requisition/Film Cycle.

  • Maintain and utilize mammography equipment as instructed or for its intended purpose, per department guidelines, manufacturer’s instructions and departmental procedure manual.

  • Perform duties in accordance with established policies in specified quality assurance manual.

  • Maintain an adequate stock of pertinent supplies.

  • Perform all duties in an ethical and professional manner.

  • Will work as Radiographer, as assigned.

  • Will work without or minimal supervision.

  • Shall interact with the Radiologists or Medical Staff as needed.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Two years of experience in Mammography

  • Thorough knowledge of MQSA Regulations and QA/QC Activities.

  • Graduate of an AMA approved program in Radiology.

  • Meet Mammography requirements of documented training under a qualified instructor.

Registration/Certification:

  • Hold a current Mass Radiologic Technologist License in Radiology and Mammography with certification by the ARRT.

  • Must complete 15 CEU’s in 36 months to maintain education requirements.

  • Perform a minimum of 200 mammograms in a 24-month period.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
