Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes and directs all department activities and assures departmental compliance with all regulating and accrediting organizations for Ultrasound, CT and Interventional Radiology.
- Works with administration and supervising physician to establish proper operating policies and procedures for the Ultrasound, CT and Interventional Radiology.
- . Interacts with other departments to ensure appropriate patient care.
- Reviews CT radiation dose reports with Radiation Safety Committee and/or assigned radiologist and documents meeting minutes.
- Ensures fluoroscopy dose documentation (logs) are completed and reviewed at the radiation safety committee meeting.
- Participates as a member or the Radiation Safety Committee as necessary.
- Manages complex problems that may arise in within the departments. Investigate, identify and prepare proposals to solve specific operational problems within all clinical areas.
- Maintains and updates various departmental manuals/plans and policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Responsible for scheduling and assisting health physicist in periodic Radiology Department equipment inspections.
- Select, develop, and evaluate technical staff in each area of responsibility. As well as participates in internal compliance audits.
- Reviews charges and works with the revenue cycle operations, integrity, and revenue cycle leadership.
- Conducts regularly scheduled departmental meetings and daily huddles.
- Assists the director with the preparation of reports for all areas of responsibility. Maintain and report statistical data regarding service volume trends including but not limited to capacity and utilization data.
- Complete on-going performance improvement for all operational activities of the department.
- Evaluate new products and equipment for use within the department. Recommend purchases and justify as appropriate.
- Maintains various records, logs, and statistics for evaluating the activity of the special procedures area of the department.
- Is responsible for forming goals and objectives for interventional procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining staffing of emergency 24-hour "on-call" coverage.
- Maintains sufficient inventory of supplies for area and monitors levels and use. Selects and orders supplies as appropriate.
- Works cooperatively with physician practices and scheduling department to provide education to ensure correct orders and remediation when necessary.
- Communicates with internal stakeholders and initiates service recovery immediately when needed.
- Collaborates with Scheduling, Radiologists, other Diagnostic Imaging Managers and other Physicians in coordinating procedural schedule. Adjusts/plans staffing schedules to meet operational need.
- Monitors inpatient and outpatient schedules to optimize utilization.
- Provides staff training to meet competence and skill level.
- Understands the organizational goals and strategic objectives and helps develop a departmental plan, in conjunction with the director, complete with long- and short-term goals.
- Manages non-productive time during operational hours to maximize work productivity.
- Performs payroll duties, enters and post staff schedules in a timely manner to meet SEIU contract requirements.
- Promotes teamwork departmentally and inter-departmentally.
- Assures all department, hospital ACR (as appropriate), DPH Infection Control and TJC guidelines are met
- Serves as clinical contact for staff.
- Responsible for data integrity and documentation, including oversight of accreditation.
- Reviews EMR and to ensure proper clinical documentation and interpretation completed in timely manner.
- Works with education department to develop educational programs to support the service lines, including BLS preparedness and certification.
- Participates in the interviewing and disciplinary process with personnel. Develops corrective action plan when necessary. Actively participates in the annual performance and evaluation process.
- Provides guidance and counsel for understanding and following policies and procedures.
- Actively participates in information system upgrades, such as EMR, Radiology equipment, and monitoring equipment
- Supports quality improvement utilizing national and state guidelines to improve patient outcomes.
- Assists in maintenance of Quality Scorecard and action planning to improve patient safety and outcomes.
- Notifies, initiates investigation and submits reports on unusual occurrences to leadership.
- Develops and directs the orientation and clinical education programs for the Ultrasound, CT and IR departments and using hospital policies and procedures and national practice standards.
- Serves as a professional role model and mentor to staff.
- Develops operational and capital budget plan for department(s), provides documentation to support capital and personnel requests in conjunction with Director.
- Contributes to the creation and implementation of policies.
- Promotes leadership, teamwork and professionalism within the organization by action and example.
- Performs point-of-care (POC) creatinine testing at applicable sites and upon completion of training.

Education/Experience Required:
- Must be a graduate of an approved school of medical imaging and be registered by
the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree Required.
- A minimum of five years of progressive management experience within the field of Radiology.
- Three years of experience as special procedure technologist preferred.
- Ability to communicate well with physicians, management, technical staff and patients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate efficient and courteous communications with patients, physicians, management, employees and vendors.
- Strong fiscal skills sufficient to analyze and manage and present budget performance information, including staffing patterns.
- Excellent problem resolution skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- EPIC experience preferred.
Registration/Certification:
- Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist, RT license required
- Current ARRT, RT Registered X-Ray required
- ARRT CT Registration preferred
- RDMS in Abdomen and OB/GYN. Breast and Vascular experience preferred
- ARDMS registered in Abdomen, OB/GYN and Vascular Ultrasound preferred
- ARRT CV Registration preferred.
