Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Plans, organizes and directs all department activities and assures departmental compliance with all regulating and accrediting organizations, in both Radiology & CT.

·        Provides technical supervision, develop staffing patterns and schedules, and completes performance evaluations and competencies.

·        Works with administration and supervising physician to establish proper operating policies and procedures for the Radiology & CT Department.

·        Manages complex problems that may arise in within the departments of Radiology and CT.   Investigate, identify and prepare proposals to solve specific operational problems within all clinical areas.  

·        Maintains and updates various departmental manuals/plans and policies as appropriate.

·        Responsible for scheduling and assisting health physicist in periodic Radiology Department equipment inspections.

·        Schedule and provide Radiology training as required for Radiologists, Physicians, and Physician office personnel, Technologists, Radiology Receptionists / file personnel and others as necessary.

·        Select, develop, and evaluate technical staff in each area of responsibility. 

·        Assures compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, DPH, NRC, MWRA, etc.)

·        Assist in the development of institution wide policies and the maintenance of records and controls for areas of responsibility.

·        Assures employees meet all orientation and competency standards as appropriate for position.

·        Conducts regularly scheduled departmental meetings.

·        Development and justification of annual budget and maintaining positive variances. Oversee and authorize purchasing activities within the constraints of the budget.

·        Oversees and authorizes payroll for modalities supervised, clinical employee evaluations, and schedules.

·        Assists the director/ VP  with the preparation of reports for all areas of responsibility.  Maintain and report statistical data regarding service volume trends.

·        Complete on-going performance improvement for all operational activities of the department.

·        Evaluate new products and equipment for use within the department.  Recommend purchases and justify as appropriate.

·        Develops appropriate work schedules and daily assignments of technologists and support staff.

·        Understands the organizational goals and strategic objectives and helps develop a departmental plan, in conjunction with the director/ VP, complete with long and short term goals.

·        Promotes leadership, teamwork and professionalism within the organization by action and example.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required:

·        A minimum of five years of progressive management experience within the field of Radiology.

·        Ability to communicate well with physicians, management, technical staff and patients.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate efficient and courteous communications with patients, physicians, management, employees and vendors.

·        Strong fiscal skills sufficient to analyze and manage and present budget performance information, including staffing patterns.

·        Excellent problem resolution skills.

·        Excellent computer skills

Education/Licensure Required:

·        Bachelors Degree Required

·        Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license

·        Current ARRT Registered in both CT and X-Ray
