QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Required: Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology

Experience:

Required: At least one year of exercise stress testing

Other Skills/Knowledge:

Required:

  • Basic Computer Skills
  • EPIC training
  • For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and fellow members of the hospital team

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS: 

ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification preferred

LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: ACLS

POPULATION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Adults, Geriatrics

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Program Manager
  • Not responsible for supervising the work of others.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Consistent with the WE CARE principles and inherent in a hospital environment, employees must be flexible in meeting patients’ and the Hospital’s needs. While the list below describes the primary functions of this job, all employees at Winchester Hospital need to recognize that an essential element of their job is the ability to respond to unanticipated and/or changing situations.  This may result in assuming responsibilities or tasks which are not on this list.

As part of the Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab team, this position:

  • Evaluates patient’s stress test to develop an individualized exercise plan.
  • Recommends exercise plan and receives approval from Cardiologist or Pulmonologist.
  • Reviews exercise plan and instructs patient on the proper use of exercise equipment.
  • Reviews rate of exertion scale with patient and explains how each level of the scale is defined.
  • Monitors the patient during their exercise routine, periodically checking blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation.
  • Recommends the proper exercise routine for the patient to continue at home upon discharge from program.
  • Maintains proper function and cleanliness of equipment.
  • Assists with emergency situation when they occur.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS

  • The employee needs to have the physical and mental abilities to perform the duties of the position listed above using the WE CARE behaviors. 
  • It is anticipated that employee will have contact with potentially hazardous chemicals while performing their job duties.
  • It is anticipated that the employee will have contact with blood, bodily fluids or other potentially infectious materials while performing their job duties.
  • At a minimum the employee needs to be able to lift up to about 25 pounds, stand, walk, push, pull, and reach.
