Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
The registered nurse systematically and continuously collects and assesses data in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic care with the patient and family.
- Establishes an in-depth data base by assessing the behavioral and physiologic status of the patient utilizing interview, observation, physical examination, and other available data.
- Integrates nursing interventions into the interprofessional plan of care, incorporating appropriate standards of care and practice and patient outcomes.
- Implements safe, competent, and efficient patient and family care within policies, procedures and standards, and interventions as noted on the interprofessional plan of care.
- Sets priorities adapting to changing patient and unit/clinic situations. In response to data indicating urgent and/or emergent risk to patient, initiates action to reduce or correct risk.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for effectively managing nursing care of individual patients/families as a team member.
- Documents the nursing process to reflect a comprehensive and integrated approach to patient and family care.
- Evaluates patient's responses to care based on effectiveness of nursing interventions/actions in relationship to established outcomes and consults with Medical Staff, Surgical Team, Hospitalist Team, Clinical Leader, Case Manager, and Rehabilitation Team regarding clinical variances and recommended changes to the plan of care.
- Identifies learning needs of patients/families and teaches by adapting standard information to provide individualized and comprehensive teaching and learning.
Quality and Patient Safety
- The registered nurse systematically and continuously collects and assesses data in collaboration with the interprofessional team to monitor outcomes of care processes.
- Use improvement methods to design and test changes to continuously improve the quality and safety of healthcare systems.
- Performs services in compliance with established practice standards, policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, statutes and regulations
- Participates in hospital and/or unit-based patient safety and quality activities and uses principles to support and improve patient outcomes.
- Minimize risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance.
- Demonstrates professional commitment and is responsible for ensuring patient safety.

- The registered nurse considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering care. The registered nurse demonstrates knowledge of care delivery system as interprofessional and multifaceted with a variety of entry and access points along the care continuum.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA RN License
- BLS Certification required, from the AHA/RC preferred
- ACLS Certification required in the following areas: ICU, Perianesthesia (Bond & PACU), Spine Center, Radiology, 4 East and 5 East, from the AHA/RC preferred
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- 0-1 year of experience

Physical, Sensory, Mental, and Environmental Requirements
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and remain mobile throughout the workday in a fast-paced patient care environment. Frequent movement is required, including bending, twisting, turning, pivoting, reaching, squatting, kneeling, balancing, and occasional climbing as needed. Requires frequent use of hands for handling, fingering, typing, writing, grasping, pinching, and performing precise clinical tasks. Must be able to assist with patient care activities, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, transferring, repositioning, and mobilizing patients. Ability to move or transport patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and other patient care equipment, while following established safe patient handling procedures.
Sensory Requirements:
Requires visual acuity sufficient to perform patient assessments, review medical records, administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and evaluate clinical data. Must be able to distinguish colors and accurately interpret equipment displays and clinical indicators. Requires the ability to assess patients at close range and maintain awareness of the surrounding care environment. Must be able to hear and respond appropriately to patient needs, conversations, telephone communications, equipment alarms, and emergency notifications in settings with varying levels of background noise. Requires clear and effective verbal communication with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members. Ability to recognize sensory cues such as temperature changes, odors, and tactile indicators relevant to patient care and safety.
Mental Requirements:
Requires strong clinical judgment, reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to assess patient conditions, prioritize care needs, and respond effectively to changing situations. Must be able to understand and follow detailed instructions, adhere to established policies and procedures, maintain assigned work schedules, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Requires the ability to maintain concentration, accuracy, attention to detail, and a consistent workflow while delivering safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed primarily in a hospital and patient care setting with frequent interaction with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The role requires both independent work and collaboration as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Regular use of clinical equipment, computers, patient care devices, and patient transport equipment is required. May involve exposure to infectious diseases, airborne pathogens, bloodborne pathogens, blood, bodily fluids, cleaning agents, chemicals, and other healthcare-related hazards. Employees are required to follow infection prevention, safety, and patient care protocols and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, gowns, masks, eye protection, respirators, and other protective equipment as required.
Pay Range:
$37.00 – $95.37
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
