- Per diem
- Day shifts are generally 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Hours and frequency vary based on department needs
- Coverage may range from an individual shift to multiple shifts in a week
- The employee may remain in one department for an extended assignment or move between practices from day to day
About the Role
Support patients and care teams across Mount Auburn specialty practices in a flexible role that combines Medical Assistant and Medical Secretary responsibilities.
You will primarily float among Nephrology, Infectious Diseases, and Rheumatology, with the possibility of supporting other departments when needed.
What You’ll Do
Patient Care Support
- Welcome and room patients for appointments
- Obtain and document vital signs, height, and weight
- Review the reason for the visit
- Update medication and allergy information
- Complete required patient screening questions
- Communicate relevant patient information and abnormal results to the provider
- Help manage patient flow and communicate delays
- Maintain clean, organized, and stocked patient care areas
- Monitor medical equipment and supplies for cleanliness, function, and expiration dates
- Document completed tasks accurately in the electronic health record
Medical Secretary Support
- Check patients in and out
- Answer telephone calls and route messages
- Schedule appointments, diagnostic testing, and laboratory services
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Support referrals, prior authorizations, and pre-certifications
- Queue prescription renewals and enter orders as directed by a licensed provider
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and colleagues
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect Patient Health Information

Required Qualifications
1. High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Health Science preferred.
2. License Medical Assistant Certificate preferred., or Registration Certified Nursing Assistant preferred., or Certificate 1 EMT Basic License preferred., or Certificate 2 Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.
3. 0-1 years related work experience required.
4. Demonstrated Medical Assistant (MA) competencies within one year of hire.
5. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Pay Range:
$21.00 – $28.26
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
