Job Description:
IBCLC required, 1-2 years experience preferred
Lactation Consultant Service Registered Nurses who are International Board Certified Lactation Consultants provide specialized breastfeeding support for inpatients seven days a week.
- The breastfeeding initiation rate on the postpartum unit is eighty-four percent.
- Referrals are made by nursing staff, physicians, and certified nurse midwives for patients experiencing difficulty with breastfeeding and for all breastfeeding patients in the Special Care Nursery.
- In addition, the lactation service includes a Breastfeeding Center where the lactation consultant provides mother/infant breastfeeding assessment, education and support on an outpatient basis. Patients can schedule an appointment during the hours of operation. Breast pumps and additional breastfeeding merchandise are available for purchase or on a rental basis as a convenience to mothers. Individual need assessment may be employed to provide equipment for qualifying patients.
- Qualified candidates will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse licenser. BSN preferred, BCLS required.
Position will also include responsibilities for helping to maintain our Baby Friendly Designation (education, chart audits, support for bedside staff). One evening shift per week will be required.
Pay Range:
$36.00 – $79.12
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
